Departing from the studies of 4 objects partially or completely damaged by the fire that burnt down Museu Nacional do Rio de Janeiro in 2018, this piece proposes a performative act that settles a public installation with physical scultures. Those sculptures are portals to virtual sculptures holding 3D models and a multiplicity of memories, which were collected over each of the objects through conversations and storytelling practices involving the researchers of the museum and related community. The project proposes to engage memory and virtuality through High and Low tech tools to open multiple narratives over objects that were part of the museum archive, and which are not currently exhibited. The fire, a destructive element, is also liberating fixed hegemonic narratives and allowing resituated projections over the futures and pasts of those objects.
